Maureen Burnside Trophy

25 Apr

The Maureen Burnside Trophy was played last night under the lights at Anderson Park between MAP Shenanigans and Bay Olympic Woman's teams.

Last year, we took it home thanks to a Suzy Clarke goal that proved to be the winner. MAP won 1-0. Last night however, it was Bay Olympic's turn to take the trophy back with a 1-0 victory. Congratulations to Bay Olympic on their victory.

Just a little about Maureen:

Maureen was known as our football mum. She took care of many young lads at the football club, and it seemed she truly enjoyed doing so. She had a big heart and openly welcomed people under her wing - something that everybody greatly appreciated. After training, or on a game day, we always looked forward to the delicious food that Maureen would prepare for us. We all miss her famous beef rolls that she would make in the kitchen.

Maureen wasn't afraid to tell us off if we misbehaved or had a bad game. When we went up to the club rooms, she would all tell us and we had to agree. On the other hand, when we won, Maureen was full of praise and we all loved to see her smile.

Maureen Burnside was one incredible lady with a heart of gold - a true legend of the club.
